  1. Nonsense! Drug trafficking is global and controlled by a certain mafia whose name I won't mention. Every country is affected. The real question is… Who originally manufactured fentanyl? Pharmaceutical companies, for God's sake! Drug trafficking is as old as the hills. Have you ever read about the "Opium Wars in China"? And what about the war in Afghanistan?

    1. Madam, I read Chossudovsky's article. A good part of what he says about the British Empire's opium trade is historically accurate and I do not dispute it.

But that still doesn't answer the question in my article.

Chossudovsky talks mostly about opium, heroin, Afghanistan, cocaine, and the history of drug trafficking. My article examines a much more specific problem: were the American grievances concerning fentanyl, its precursors, its clandestine production in Canada, and its crossing of the Canada-US border entirely fabricated?

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid. It does not come from Afghan poppy fields. Therefore, the history of the Opium Wars does not allow us to determine whether or not the United States had a legitimate grievance against Canada in 2025.

And my article doesn't even claim that Canada was responsible for the American fentanyl crisis. The quantities seized at the Canadian border were minuscule compared to those at the Mexican border. Rather, I'm asking whether the Canadian problem was real, however small, and whether some American concerns were therefore justified.

      These are two different things.

One can perfectly well conclude that Trump had a legitimate grievance and that the 25% tariffs were nonetheless a disproportionate or inappropriate response. That is precisely the nuance I am trying to examine.

If you want to refute my article, you must show me that the facts I present concerning Canadian fentanyl, clandestine laboratories, precursors, or the border are false. Simply recounting the perfectly true history of the British opium trade in the 19th century is not enough.
